With the raising of the flag, the president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Božidar Maljković, opened the event and announced the competition, in which our 23 best middle- and long-distance runners took part. The winner of the 4,000-meter race was Miloš Malešević, a member of the Athletic Club from Inđija, the Kenyan athlete Stanley Kipruto took second place, while third place went to Aleksa Tomić, the “Morava” athlete from Ćuprija.

As part of this event, on the occasion of European Sports Week, educational, sports and recreational activities for children aged 8 to 12 were organized in the city park on the same day. The program was realized by educators hired by the Olympic Committee of Serbia with the goal of promoting physical education and a healthy lifestyle. The activities from 12 to 2 p.m. lasted for 30 minutes each and took place in groups of up to ten children who, through workshops and physical exercise, had the opportunity to learn more about the history and values of the Olympic Games, but also about our country’s participation in the largest international sports festival. At the end of the workshops, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students ran a non-competitive Olympic 400-meter race under the slogan “We are all winners”.
These and all other activities were realized in compliance with the recommended measures of protection against coronavirus infection.
As every year, the Memorial Athletics Race “General Svetomir Đukić” was supported by TITAN Cementara Kosjerić, which contributes to the improvement of the general values in the community.
