The First Educational Centre for Municipal Waste Management opened in Serbia

At the end of September 2022, the Educational Centre for Municipal Waste Management, the first of its kind in Serbia, was opened in the Regional Waste Management Centre “Duboko” in Užice. It was built thanks to the project “Challenges for Bio-Waste Management”, which was implemented with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

This space is intended for the education of young people: preschool children, primary and secondary school children, students, but also citizens’ associations and non-governmental organizations dedicated to the improvement of environmental protection, as well as for all other interested organizations and individuals that wish to obtain knowledge about proper waste disposal.

Edukativni centar

TITAN Cementara Kosjerić, which recognized the significance of such a project as a good way of learning about waste management and raising awareness about the preservation and protection of the environment, also contributed to the construction of this center.

The facility, with the capacity of 50 seats, will function as an open-space classroom during the summer months, and the plan is to purchase and install transparent foils to cover the space for the future period, in order to use this educational setting during the whole year.

As part of the official opening of the Educational Centre, the state-of-the-art equipment in the field of waste management was presented, the practice of which has a significant place in a developed society as well.
