Environmental protection is one of the priority areas in the TITAN Cementara Kosjerić. Investment in the local community in 2018 amounted to almost 150,000 euros.
The TITAN Cementara Kosjerić has presented the ninth integrated Report for 2018, to present to the interested local community its business results and the results achieved in the fields of environmental protection, occupational health and safety, and cooperation with the local community, including financial indicators. The modern and demanding format of the current Report frames the business philosophy of sustainable development, which integrates economic, environmental and social goals, which are also consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Global Compact.
The integrated Report has been prepared in accordance with the cement industry standards and the relevant protocols of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) – Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI). The content and structure of the presented business results and the impact on society is tailored to all stakeholders and is compatible with the principles of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).

As a step beyond legal compliance, this approach is consciously and voluntarily committed to improving the world around us, in the economic, social and environmental sphere. In all aspects of environmental impact, the results of TCK are far better than the statutory limits. Over the past year, we have renewed our Integrated Work Permit, which is certainly a further testament to the effectiveness of our environmental protection system. We will continue to focus our efforts on social responsibility priorities, achieving even better results in the areas of environmental protection and occupational health and safety, as well as with the support of the local community”, said Miroslav Gligorijević, Managing Director of TITAN Cementara Kosjerić.
One of the important topics of the event was environmental management, with a special Report focus on the ambient air quality in Kosjerić and the impact of the factory operation on the ambient air quality parameters in Kosjerić. The results presented, recorded by the measuring station of the Environmental Protection Agency, clearly indicate that the air quality in Kosjerić during the year goes through two different seasons – summer, when the air quality is excellent and fully in accordance with the prescribed limits, and winter, when, due to the influence of household heating, the air is almost daily outside the defined quality limits. These measurements prove that air pollution in this area exists independently of the Cement Plant’s operation, since air quality is excellent during the period when the Cement Plant is operating at full capacity, and is always controversial during the winter period when the plant is largely at a standstill due to overhaul.
As a business priority of the company, occupational safety is subject to constant review and improvement. The good practice applied at the TITAN Cementara Kosjerić produces positive results and safety awareness is not only promoted within the factory and its supply chain, but also to the youngest generations – nine generations of Kosjerić Elementary School fourth-graders participated in the “Safety First” programme.
